THE CREW

The people that really count

Griffin Davis

WRITER/DIRECTOR/ PRODUCER

Griffin Davis hails from South Carolina and came out West to study creative writing at UC Santa Barbara, where he was the Editor In Chief of the campus satire magazine. Due to his passion for film and comedy, he decided to dive head first into video production work, and built a career as a Technical Director and an Editor. While working various commercial jobs to make a living and learn as much as possible, he simultaneously continued to hone his comedy storytelling by making shorts with his closest friends—and the video comedy team “Probably A Cult” was born. With “Probably A Cult”, Griffin made short sketches, but one sketch in particular seemed to have longer legs, so Griffin kept making it... until it became a feature length film called “Counting In”. Griffin loves making movies with his friends because he finds the best comedy comes from celebrating people’s authentic selves, and encouraging the real characters in his life to embrace their wackiest qualities. Prior to “Counting In,” Griffin has directed social videos for Adam Mckay’s Yellow Dot Studios,Del Harrison’s Comedy Special, “Hot Chicks”, and Jimmy Pardo’s comedy pilot “Truly Absurd.”

Mike Moss

Writer/ Editor

Mike Moss was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin where he studied film. Shortly after graduating in 2014, he moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of greater opportunities within the film industry, in hopes to one day work on narrative television and films. He began his career shooting and editing short documentaries for small production companies.

In 2018, Mike began working for September Club, an editorial production company co-founded by Barry Poltermann, the editor of American Movie and Netflix’s Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. While editing documentaries under the mentorship of Poltermann, Mike developed a deeper understanding of narrative story-telling. This led to his role as editor and co-writer of the feature mockumentary Counting In, a heavily improvised film that allowed Mike to blend the authenticity of documentary with the structure of narrative film.

Mike's other editing credits include supporting roles on Ethan Hawke’s HBO documentary series, The Last Movie Stars and the Netflix feature Why Did You Kill Me?, as well as lead editor on the docu-series UFC Fightlore, One Day at Disney (Disney +) and the award-winning documentary Make Peace or Die, which premiered on PBS’ Independent Lens in the fall of 2024.

Ben Kurzrock

WRITER/ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

Ben Kurzrock is a comedy filmmaker that creates sketches, short films, pilots, cartoons, podcasts and features. He started his creative career writing, directing and editing at digital comedy companies like Super Deluxe. Since then, the bulk of his experience has been writing, voice directing, and podcast producing for his favorite cartoon, SpongeBob SquarePants, and its spin-offs. While working on SpongeBob, he has continued to run the sketch comedy group he started at UCLA, which evolved into the experimental filmmaking collective Probably A Cult. Ben was thrilled to work with his closest friend and collaborator Griffin Davis on Probably A Cult's first rock mockumentary short film "Counting In", then was even more excited when that short film grew into a feature length project.
